When did you fall in love with JRPG for the first time? If you call yourself a fan, then you should know when you first time fall in love with JRPG, and keep that love until now.. 🙂
Before we discuss further, first of all, for those of you who started your childhood with the NES, Sega and Super Nintendo consoles like me, there were still very few genres for majority of games at that time. Those were Action, Adventure, Fighting, RPG and Racing. The top 3 of most games at that time were Action, Adventure and Fighting. The RPG games were still very little to found, and they were even only in Super Nintendo (CMIIW).

RPG games were still not popular on consoles at the time, especially since there wasn’t a memory card yet to save the progress state of play which is, that’s really terrible huh. Can you imagine playing an RPG game without saving? Only A speed runner might do that, hahaha. It’s really scary though..
In 1995, I got to know JRPG games for the first time on Playstation 1 or commonly referred to as PSX (code name for Playstation from Sony). When I saw that game, I didn’t have PSX yet, and I saw the game when visit a friend’s house when I was in high school. At that moment, I immediately fell in love with that game, and it is still memorable until now.
What game? want to know? drum roll please .. 🙂

BREATH OF FIRE III
I am so in love with that game, so much love that I finally asked my parents to buy a PSX to play the game. It so touching and makes me very emotional, especially the boss battle song when which is very cool, made my spirit high and very exciting …
That was my first JRPG game that made me fall in love with the genre until now, but in contrary nowadays it’s hard to find JRPG games that make us fall in love and emotionally like in PS1 or PSX.
In the Golden Era of PSX, there were lots of and so many JRPG games that made me fall in love besides Breath of Fire III, Among them are Legend of Legaia, Legend of Dragoon, Lunar Silverstar Story, Guardian Crusade and Wild Arms 2.

Reminisce into the past, making me still want to play those games that are very memorable and with so many emotional moments and heart touching. It was because the story is so good, and the battle system are unique for each game, very interesting and not bored.
In my opinion, JRPG’s Golden Era was so big and glorious during the PSX era. The current generation of game consoles like PS4 is more sophisticated with stunning technology and visuals, but there are no more JRPG games that can make me fall in love and memorable like the games on PSX. You feel that too, right?
How about you guys? What game made you fall in love with JRPG for the first time until now?
